This was an assignment for my Life Studies class (due 10/19/04). We had to do a self portrait in the same style/convention of another artist's self portrait. For this iteration of the assignment (it's been going on for a while) I chose as my emulatee the magnificent artist Tony DiTerlizzi, illustrator of many children's books, Magic Cards, and _The_Spiderwick_Chronicles_ (written by Holly Black). the picture to the left of me is his self portrait from the back (p 145) of The Spiderwick Chronicles, Book 5: The Wrath of Mulgarath. [if need be i can remove it, I just felt the comparison was interesting, and of course i give him full credit for his work.]
I am happy with the way the frame turned out...but the anatomy leaves a bit to be desired. that and i need more pen'n'ink practice...i usually like the effects i get, but i just dont do it enough...oh well...
